DIAMOND SPIRITS
An
18KT Royal yellow gold pendant
with
an extremely rare
tabular
shape Herkimer "Diamond"
twin
quartz crystal (449 carats)
as
its centerpiece,
surrounded
by Faces , the Spirits,
in
the front and the back of the pendant,
which
were carved in wax and then cast in gold,
and
encrusted with round brilliant-cut Black Diamonds,
1.06
carats total weight.
The
pendant is attached to a 17" long strand
of
large round Black Lava beads
from
the Canary Islands,
Rock
Crystal Quartz faceted beads
in
square and rondelle shapes,
14KT
yellow gold beads,
and
with an 18KT yellow gold clasp.
"Herkimer Diamonds"
are
doubly-terminated
Rock
Crystal Quartz crystals
found
only in Herkimer, NY.
The
rare tabular (tab)
"Herkimer
Diamond" crystal
is
the result of unequal development
of
a single pair of opposing faces,
resulting
in a flat tabular appearance.

necklace was exclusively created
for
the Carnegie Museum's
2003
Annual Gem & Mineral Show
to
celebrate the show's theme-- "Diamonds".
Helen
and the "Diamond Spirits"necklace
were
featured on the Pittsburgh KBKA,
the
local CBS TV station.
