“SATYRS & GARGOYLES”,
From
the theme series
“Satyrs
& Gargoyles”
A
very heavy, hinged,
18K
yellow & white gold pendant
with
two carved Larimar gems,
(
Dominican Republic)
73
+ 77.5 cts = 150.5 cts total weight.
Two
oval-cut Blue Sapphires (Montana)
.65+.69
cts = 1.34 cts total weight.
Two
rectangular Pink Tourmalines (Brazil)
1.59
+ 1.57 cts= 3.16 carats total weight.
The
"Satyrs & Gargoyles" theme
allows
for dynamic expressionism,
infinite
variations, and exaggerated features.
The
distorted features emit
demonic
pathos and induce awe.
In
classic Greek mythology Satyrs were sylvan gods,
the
male followers of Dionysos, the god of wine,
and
they are represented as part man and part goat,
usually
having short, sprouting horns on their heads.
Gargoyles
represent grotesque human or animal figures.
